Week One: Brian Doyle caricaturist - FREE cartoon drawings for children. Limited tickets available each day.
Dates: Monday 20th to Saturday 25th September
Times: 11am to 3pm daily
Venue: Level 1 outside the library
Week Two: Free Flower/Garden Pot painting and decorating workshop.
Dates: Monday 27th September to Saturday 2nd October
Times: 10am, 11am and 12 noon
Venue: Gallery level outside David Jones

FREE MUMS & BUBZ CLUB
If you're a Mum you are invited to our monthly Mums and Bubz club. The club meets in the Brisbane City Council library on the 2nd Thursday of each month from 11am to midday. The meeting generally includes an interesting guest speaker covering such topics as children's health, parenting, breastfeeding, toilet training etc plus retailer presentations from Toowong Village. Retailer presentations include skincare for mums, children's clothing, health and nutrition, children's books etc.
Each Mum who attends will receive a free delicious morning tea and there are lucky door prizes to be won. If you would like to come along to the next Mums & Bubz club, please give Angela at Centre Management a call on 3870 7177. |

FRUITY CAPERS MUSHROOM RETAILER OF THE YEAR AGAIN IN 2010
The Mushroom Retailer of the Year Award, now in it's sixth year, is chosen by a professional, independent mystery shopper program which judges stores on the basis of their mushroom quality, range, display, knowledge and point-of-sale presentation/materials. For the fourth year in a row Fruity Capers Toowong have received the coveted "Mushroom Retailer of The Year" award.
Australian Mushroom Growers' General Manager, Greg Seymour, congratulated the team at Fruity Capers on their accomplisment and praised them on their commitment to excellent in mushroom retailing. "This competition is strongly contested and further boosts Fruity Capers reputation as one of the best places in Qld to buy quality fresh produce".

VILLAGE MEATS
Aussie Barbecued Ham Prep time: 15mins Cooking time: 1 hour 45 mins This recipe will serve approximately 12 people depending on your menu ingredients
7kg ham from Village Meats of Toowong 2 tbsp Dijon mustard 150g brown sugar 125ml pineapple juice 125ml sweet sherry 60g brown sugar (extra) 2 cloves garlic cut in half 1/4 tsp ground cloves
METHOD 1. Remove rind. 2. Make shallow cuts diagonally fat at 3cm intervals, then shallow cut in the opposite direction forming diamonds. 3. Place ham in a disposable baking dish and rub with combined mustard and sugar. 4. Place ham on heated barbecue and cook by indirect method with lid closed for 1 hour. 5. Meanwhile, combine juice, sherry, extra sugar, garlic and cloves in a saucepan and stir until sugar dissolves. Then boil for 10 mins. 6. Brush ham with this glaze and continue cooking for a further 45 mins, glazing regularly. Allow to stand for 10 mins before serving.
Ray has been selling the same locally produced hams for the last 16 years. Sourced from only the finest Australian pork and cured and smoked to his requirements, its best to order early as these hams often sell out. |
