Textures of winter

It’s time to up the ante on texture. The weather has cooled beautifully, the nights are long and there’s rain about. Calling the fluffy, the cuddly and the warm – your time is now.

Bed Bath N Table is always my first stop for beautifully styled textured bedding inspiration. The colours this season of rust and mint are gorgeous for Queensland winter. You get the richness of texture, but without the heaviness of super dark colours.

Rust and nude pinks are a great basis from which to add accent colours, also. Timber plays off beautifully with these tones, but you can tie in mustard, greens, anything earthy, to great effect.

If a complete re-working of your room isn’t on the cards, add texture with new throws and cushions. Bed Bath N Table’s Morgan & Finch chunky tassel throw is again a light-weight but richly textured option that feels like just enough for the cool we experience in Queensland.

David Jones has a range of beautiful throws also. The Creswick alpaca range is Australian made, in beautiful tones, and lusciously soft.

In contrast, if you’re feeling the need to give your space a lift during winter and bring in some freshness and light, indoor plants are a great option for this. See our earlier post on Daisy’s Florists’ hypertufa potted indoor succulents as one idea.

Alternatively, Kmart’s potted and loose stem grasses in blush neutrals complete the look perfectly in a clay vessel.
