The Gratitude Project – thank you nurses

Around 1500 nurses and midwives work from our neighbouring hospital The Wesley at Auchenflower.

This International Nurses Day (May 12) we took some time to thank these staff among the many who care for our loved ones day in and day out and are currently at the front line of the fight against Coronavirus.

While 2020 will be known as the year of COVID-19, it would also be 200th anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale (widely regarded as the founder of modern nursing). This year as ever, we salute the work of all of the nurses who comfort and care for us in our greatest times of need.

Village retailers this week showed their support toward our Gratitude Project, donating fresh produce and care packages for Wesley nursing staff, along with hand written cards with words of thanks. Our team delivered beautiful hampers with items from Fruity Capers, Bakers Delight, Daisys Florists, Kaisercraft, Terry White Chemmart, Blue Illusion, Merlo Coffee, Stefan Hair, Kmart, Coles and David Jones to show our thanks for the work our local nurses do for our community.

In addition to the hampers provided by Toowong Village retailers, The Wesley thanked their nurses with cheesecakes delivered to each of the wards; nurses and midwives were gifted a care pack with a soy candle, lifesavers and a commissioned artwork with a personalised message.

The Wesley is one of the largest private hospitals in Queensland with 535 beds, 19 operating theatres, three cardiac catheter labs and five birthing suites.

From the Toowong Village community to yours, nurses, thank you.
